I certainly didn't realize that it's been over a year since I've posted here. We've been working on things around the house. Jobs have changed again and a lot has happened over the past year. We joined The Nest in Columbia SC as founding members. They opened the store Thanksgiving weekend and have been working on creating a great venue for local artists. In May, Mrs. Rita decided to close the Rita Smith Gallery. It's sad to see another gallery close in the greater Columbia area but the foot traffic at the mall just kept dwindling to the point it wasn't feasible to continue. We've been helping sell out the furniture and fixtures and that has been an interesting process. We're exploring options for locations to show and sell our artwork. In some ways I've actually been thinking of closing the business but that's primarily when I get tired of the extra paperwork and hoops that small businesses have to jump through. We are exploring some online options so you may see something new in the next few months. Thank you all for your support. Happy Summer!!!!
I've been thinking about how often to update this blog. I'm going to try monthly updates and see how things go for a while. Since my last post a few things have happened... Mom had surgery mid-February and is recovering now. Over the past couple weeks she has gotten back into painting and is trying to get stronger to go back to work. I've been busy with work and online activities. Several things are in the works, so we should see some new items soon... stay tuned
Mom's created another masterpiece for a wonderful pair of our four legged pals. It's been busy over the past few weeks. We've been working on shifting things around in the studio. We will be tending to some medical issues over the next few weeks, so it will be a bit before we get back to work. Peace & Happy Valentine's Day! Time has flown by... We've had an eventful second half of 2012. The new job requires more time that anticipated, so time has been limited for artwork. This must change in 2013. We had to have some major housework done late 2012 including replacing appliances and plumbing in the house. Now, we're working towards cleaning the studio out so that we can get back to work. Mom's been working on paintings when she has some time to spare and I've mostly been helping with Facebook rescue auctions, etc with what spare time has been available. We did host a FB auction for SEPRA in December and were able to raise quite a bit to help the group with all of our friend's generous support. I've updated the paintings gallery with some of mom's latest work, so be sure to take a minute when you have a chance to look. Thank you all! We'll be back soon.
Hi everyone... It's been a crazy few months at the new job so I've been behind on keeping you up to date. Mom's been working hard at painting pugs, boston's and beagles. I've added some new paintings tonight, so make sure and check out that page.
It's been an interesting month. Mom's been painting away and I started a new 8 - 5 job. We've been busy but all is good.
It's been an interesting few months. Mom has started painting dog portraits in watercolor. It has been amazing to see it progress in such a short period of time. We've completed a second online auction for SEPRA and were able to raise a good bit of money to help the puggies. We're focusing on a job change for me (new job starts Monday) and starting to get ready for Pugfest. Stay tuned... & Happy 4th everyone!
Last month we shifted to another spot in the Rita Smith Gallery at Richland Mall. We are thankful for the opportunities to share our art with those around us. We have been busy trying to work ahead and get some items ready for Pugfest. Slowly getting the main studio back to a workable status. I added some new items to the gallery today, so stop by and check it out. I also have some ideas flowing through my brain for dog necklaces. They can have bling too! (supervised anyway).
We've had a couple busy weeks. Last weekend we had several medical appointments on Friday - all with good results, worked at Rita's on Saturday and ended up doing a transport run Easter Sunday. I'm thankful for the transport run when provided us the opportunity to visit with family for Easter lunch. This weekend has been busy with rescue work and yard work. Mom's working away on some paintings for SEPRA's pugfest and I've been doing some wire wrap bracelets. Slowly getting things back in order. Thank you Lord.
I've been busy over the past few weeks helping organize an online FB auction to support South East Pug Rescue. For anyone who is interested please join the group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/sepra.auction/ I have included some of my jewelry items, so this is one way that you can purchase something and get it shipped to you. I will also have an item in the Columbia Clemson Prowl and Growl event that will be in the silent auction. Money raised from this event will go toward a Richland county scholarship for a future Clemson student. I've been working on some new bracelets and hope to have some new pieces in the gallery soon. Happy St. Pat
